Whether you're interested in agility for competition or for fun, Versa Dog Sports has a class for you! Our classes start with Foundations for Agility, and progress to Beginning, Intermediate, and Basic Handling. For the most advanced students we offer Advanced Competition Agility.
Foundation Agility is the first agility class you take at Versa Dog Sports! We focus on introducing important skills needed when running an agility course. We work on rear foot awareness, confidence building, and working around distractions. We introduce the tunnel, the teeter, and start the foundations for jumps!
First time students OR first time dogs can register for this class.
Beginning Agility 1 and 2.
Beginning Agility 1: We work on training the dogs "STOP" contacts. We continue training jumps and pair the jumps with a tunnel! We also do a lot of handler training by teaching post turns, front crosses, and rear crosses.
Beginning Agility 2: Students start sequencing! There is a lot of handler training in this class! We teach you how to walk a course and where to use front crosses, rear crosses, and post turns. Additionally, we teach how to be aware of your body language while running. Your dog will work on collection and extension and we start exposing the them to jumps at different angles to help build up their confidence! 90% of agility courses are jumps!
Prerequisite: Foundations for Agility. New students with previous agility experience must book a 30 minute private lesson before registering for a BEGINNING AGILITY class to ensure proper placement.
Intermediate Agility Classes We offer 4 levels of Intermediate Agility at Versa Dog Training.
Our Intermediate classes take you from learning weave poles and all contacts to sequencing full courses. Progressively longer and more challenging courses are taught to prepare teams for advanced agility training at the Master, Premier and International levels.
Prerequisite: Foundations and Beginning Agility 1 and 2. New students with previous agility experience must book a 30 minute private lesson before registering for an INTERMEDIATE class to ensure proper placement.
Our Basic Handling class helps students build awareness of the "dog's line". Understanding the dog's line helps handlers make better handling choices when they walk and run courses. Through practice and exposure to more challenging courses, students learn how to maximize their runs with their dogs .
Handlers also work on their body mechanics to better "cue" their dogs for improved performance.
Advanced Agility classes are offered multiple times a week with no more than 6 students per class. Each session is six weeks long and involves challenging course designs that prepare dog and handler for Masters, Premier, and International competition standards.
New students must book a 30 minute private lesson before registering.
30 or 60 minute private lesson with one of our lead trainers. Whether you want to work on behaviors one-on-one or want to hone your handling skills, you can work on any skill or behavior you and your dog need to address.
